#1 · Aug 18, 2015 (Edited) I have a '13 825i, I couldn't find where this had been covered previously, but my parking brake warning is now beeping continuously. In the normal state, it only beeps if you try to put the machine in gear when the parking brake is set. Any ideas how to start chasing this one down? Thx 1 - 11 of 11 Posts A avdks
When the EPB is engaged with the ignition switch turned OFF, the EPB light will turn ON for 30 seconds. If the light blinks continuously after turning the EPB switch ON, the brake has not attained sufficient clamping force to hold the vehicle. This may be due to vehicle incline: look for a notification on the instrument panel display.
Faulty Switch: One common reason for the Parking Brake light to stay on is a failing or failed switch. This can be checked easily by moving the handle to and fro after it is down. If the light turns off (or turns off and then back on), the switch is the most likely culprit and will need to be replaced.
One of the common reasons why the dashboard brake light remains on when the emergency brake is off is when there is need for addition of brake fluid. Open the cap, check the level, and add fresh brake fluid as needed. Many cars have a brake fluid reservoir that indicates the fluid level even without opening the cap.
Turned out to just be the wiring harness from the vehicle to the parking brake motor. The failure message was intermittent as some on here also had. Would come on and go away and so on. Scanner displayed 2 codes in ABS module. One for parking brake malfunction and the other for left parking brake motor.

There are usually two possible reasons why your parking brake warning light stays on after you've released the parking brake: The parking brake is not fully disengaged. This means that releasing the pedal, lever or button did not completely release the actual parking brake.I'm thinking of just taking everything off the wheel, cleaning it all and plugging it all back in but does anyone else have anything else to suggest while I'm there ? I've noticed I can get the parking brake sensor box for about £40 but not even sure where this is let alone if it'll do the trick. Most likely it is the parking brake switch stuck or the wiring to it is damaged. If you move the switch by hand will it stop? Do you have a tool for testing electrical so we can do some tests?14. Feb 10, 2021 #1. I have just purchased a motorhome which is on a 2007 65c18 cab chassis. It has developed a fault whereas the park brake light and alarm comes on intermittently while driving. The fault also occurred while at home so I definitely know when the fault is present there is no voltage on the switch attached to the handbrake even
Check to ensure you have enough fluid in the brake master cylinder. A lot of vehicles have the sensor which detects the level of the fluid in on the same circuit as the parking brake. If you find this low, you may want to check the condition of your brake pads.
Temporary Fix Pull over and set the transmission in Park. Please turn off the ignition, then turn it back on. Pull the parking brake switch and keep it for 10 seconds, then release it. Start the engine, and the light, in most cases, will turn off. Here is a list of common problems that cause the Parking Brake to stay on.
